Progression

In our lives whether professionally or personally progression is important to enable us to feel as if we are achieving something. Having direction is vital in terms of career and a lot of us seek it when we are looking for jobs and benefit from in our lives. Albeit it could be fitness, relationships or other ventures.

However in order to progress it’s important that we are realistic and I don’t mean that in a pessimistic way, I mean this merely as a cautious optimist. The reason I say this is because in the world of finance as we have mentioned we are in the middle of doing ACCA exams which we are progressing steadily through.

However it’s all good that we are passing our exams but we also need to work on our experience as passing exams has to compliment your real experiences in order for you to benefit fully. I should imagine most other professional fields are not too dissimilar as exams and qualifications are not enough for you to progress.

Similar to a balance sheet or (Statement of financial position) your qualifications and your experience should balance as one should not be greater than the other.

It’s easy for you to get lost and focus on one rather than the other so it’s not easy at all but that being said remember your qualifications are vital but your experience leading up to qualifying as a chartered accountant. However soft skills and practical experience are equally as important.
